Depending on the character and the setup there may be benefits to waiting - we'll go into this more later. You don't have to promote Mae at level 14, however - if you want, you can hold fire and promote her later at any level above that as and when you wish. Mae is a Mage, and once you get her to level 14 you can promote her to the Priestess class. Your class changes and character promotions will directly influence stats, which determine almost everything about your character in battle. The main thing you need to understand about character promotion and class changes in Fire Emblem Echoes: Shadows of Valentia is that the game features different base stats for each class in the game. How Class Change and Character Promotion works We'll get there, however - so let's talk about it in detail. Well, the truth is that there's no easy answer to this question outright - we're going to have to explain a few things about how the game works. I suppose to each their own.One question is bound to be on players' lips more than others, and was frequently on our lips as we played Fire Emblem: Shadow of Valencia for our review, and it's a simple one that has myriad complicated answers: just when should you promote your characters? That said, I am actually a part of that newer crowd, having first played the series with Awakening. Overall, Echoes is a great 40 to 60 hour playthrough that will please most fans, but less particularly the newer crowd. The full voice acting ends up providing a surprising amount of depth by comparison to the grunting or silent convos of the past. In addition, for those not interested in a dragging relationship builder, Echoes has character conversations on the fly-during battles and in towns and they are quick. Echoes also provides more of a challenge by removing the team up advantage introduced in Awakening. This latest FE game removes the rock-paper-scissors battle system for a cleaner and more challenging experience. A must-play treasure and an underrated masterpiece, and believe me, I'm choosing my words wisely. I'm keeping it and replaying it for years to come. A heartbreaking story, an amazing "new" mechanic where you have to use HP points to use things like magic or even special moves, a great cast, freaking Hidari as lead artist. Everything stays in line with a good and complete character development. Oh, my, god! I just can't hate them, I love hating some of them: Jedah, Saber, Alm, Celica and even minor characters. ![]() And it's not a bad "oof", it's an actual great "OOF" i'm going for here. I love the whole VA thing, it just adds so much life to the story!! And now a big "oof". ![]() ![]() Just when I was about to start, characters were reciting everything the dialogue box was saying and well. Just when I booted up the game and saw the title screen and then heard the main theme playing I was like: "wait. however I was a little discouraged when I heard commentaries like: "meh, it could've been better." or "remember everything you knew about Fire Emblem? Well this game throw that to the dumpster" and I was quite hesitant when I bought my own copy. This game is as good as people have told me it is. Why? The answer is quite simple: old-school mixed with new-school is my school. I'm keeping this game as my absolute favorite Fire Emblem game. Why?
